About your instructor:
Lia Tupou’s dance journey began at the age of four, nurtured by a family with deep ties to music, and movement. Born in Oʻahu and raised in the Bay Area, she trained with the esteemed Hula halau O Nalua and ʻOte’a ʻApi group, refining her skills in Hawaiian and Tahitian dance. From an early age, she performed nearly every weekend at church events and community gatherings, driven by a passion for sharing her Oceanic heritage through dance. Now a mother, she hopes to instill this same love and cultural connection in her children and community. This year, Lia is honored to join Nonosina on stage at the prestigious Merrie Monarch Festival, marking a significant milestone in her lifelong journey as a dancer.
